Chapter Five : Beverly's Nightmare

Beverly's POV

I was standing in the middle of the aisle in Target. My mum always thought that they had some good stuff there.

"Bev honey, don't leave where you are I am going to go and get you some chocolates." My mum said, leaving with my twin brother who was holding her hand like a baby. He was my twin and we were 9 back then.

It had been a while since my mum left me standing here. And both my parents we not in my vicinity. Being scared I started walking towards the direction where my mum went.

Tears formed near my eyes, waiting to escape at any moment.

"Mom, Dad, Patty? I'm lost can you come back, please? I'm scared Patty! Please come back." I cried like a child that I was. Crying for my brother, who was just five minutes younger to me but still more responsible than me.

He would always let me sleep in his bed whenever I thought that a monster was going to pounce at me either from the cupboard or emerge from under my bed . Everyone there looked at me as if I had grown another head.

I didn't know who to go to for help, or what to do. I went to every single person asking them if they had seen my parents or my brother. But, none of them saw my parents or brother and no one even tried to help me. I knew I wasn't the prettiest baby, but I was not that ugly too..! I felt helpless, unloved that one and the last time.

I think I saw my mother and I ran towards that silhouette. But, it wasn't my mum. It was someone else. Someone who looked just like my mother but wasn't her. I was tired.

I was torn apart. I thought they left me here deliberately, not wanting to put up with me because I wasn't as smart as other kids my age. I just gave up every hope and just sat in an aisle close by. I cried and cried. Until I heard them.

"Bev? Honey wake up!" I was snapped out of my nightmare with my mum shaking me and shouting as if I'm going to die.

When I looked down at myself, I was a wet mess. I was sweating like crazy. And both my parents standing around my bed and my brother standing between them.

Patrick, walked towards me as if he was gonna do something crazy. And he climbs my bed and hugs me.

"It's gonna be okay Bev. You won't die today." He whispers into my ear. I swat his chest and leaves my room chuckling like a five-year-old who was given a bar of chocolate.

"Just leave me alone. I would just want to go back to sleep. And hopefully, it'll be peaceful now." I say, dismissing them.

They leave the room and I turn my lamp off and lay on the bed, with my eyes wide open since I am sure I won't go to sleep tonight. I keep on turning, restlessly thinking there will be another nightmare making its way, but I won't let it come, because I won't sleep anymore tonight.

I sat on the seat near my window, which looked out to the street which is busy in the morning, now silent with no soul to be seen in the vicinity. And the light shines from a room in the house on the other side of the road.

That was it for today! Read it and let me know in the comment section down below what you thought!!
