THE BOY AT THE END OF THE CORRIDOR

Carters were a normal family. Father who worked a usual nine to five to provide for his family, mother who taught students at the local school a son and a daughter.

Bethany Carter (the daughter) was 10 years old while her brother Sam was just 5.

Growing up many things catches the attention of a kid - hypnotism, Ouija board and ghosts, the other side. And the same happened with Bethany, hypnotism caught her attention. She found the fact that so easily you can teleport someone into a world of your imagination enchanting.

One Sunday, when her parents were out, she grabbed her brother.

“Sam come on, let’s go I want to try something. It will be fun you will enjoy it; I promise.”, she said this and the promise of fun made the boy follow her as if he was already under some spell.

As soon as they were in Beth’s room, she picked her brother and sat him on her bed.

“Okay Sam, listen up! Make sure your eyes follow this coin.” She showed him an old, antique coin attached to a string. “Okay,” the little boy muttered.

Soon Bethany started moving the coin. Left-right left-right-left-right. And after about fifteen minutes Sam just plops down on Bethany’s mattress, like a rag doll.

“Sam? Sammy?” Bethany tried to get him to wake up but soon realized maybe he was under the influence.

“Sam if you hear me raise your left hand.” The boy raised his left hand.

“Sam if you hear me pull your hair.” Sam tugged on his hair.

This continued for another few minutes until the elder sister was sure that his brother was under her influence and would do anything he would want.

“Sam, now listen to me carefully, you are in the other world you see nana?” Sam slowly moved his head no.

“Then try to find her,” Bethany said, there was a tone of excitement in her voice. She did not think anything like this was possible

At that order, Sam nodded his head yes. He was still in trance.

“Did you find her?” he again nodded his head yes.

“Well Sam, listen, very carefully. Now that you see her, you do not have a family on this side. You just know nana who is on the other side.” Sam slowly nodded his head yes.

“Sam get up, and walk to the end of the corridor.” Sam followed the order and walked to the end of the corridor and stood there facing his sister.

His eyes were uncomfortably black and seemed, empty.

Ding Dong, the call bell rang! "Bethany it is us.” Her mother shouted from behind the closed door.

“Okay Sam, get out of it now.” The dominant clicked her fingers and tried to break the trance. Nothing happened.

Ignoring it all, she ran downstairs to open the door. She made small talk with her parents, thinking her brother was back to normal.

Later they sat down to have dinner, no one in the family noticed anything unusual except, Bethany. She felt the absence of her younger brother, Sam who did not come down to have dinner.

“Shouldn’t we wait for Sam?” She questioned.

“Honey, who is Sam?” the mother questioned. “My brother, mum! Your son!”

“Awe baby, we do not have a son and you do not have any brother.”. Beth had lost all her appetite but ate a little. After dinner, she rushed upstairs to her room.

And the boy still stood there. Now his eyes were completely black, staring straight through Bethany’s soul.

“Mom Dad come fast,” Bethany screamed for her parents without breaking the stare with the boy, who stood as still as a statue.

“See, there he is there is Sam.” She said, pointing at the boy. “There is no one there, honey. You must have had a long day, let’s get you into bed.” The father said, sounding a bit concerned for his only child.

Later that night Bethany woke up, feeling thirsty she ran downstairs to get some water. And on her way back she saw the boy standing in the same pose, his black eyes still staring at her, through her soul.

And well, Sam was just the boy at the end of the corridor.
